State of Emergency in Maryland
At first glance, one could surmise that the statements from the Senators are simply words coming from a couple of secular progressives from a very secular progressive district of Maryland. I would love to believe that was the extent of it. I would also love to believe that it is simply another deceitful effort to bilk the homosexual community out of more campaign donations. Perhaps the latter is partially true, but in context there is much more being said here.
For any politician to come out this early in an election season and make such a bold statement would have constituted political suicide up till now. Why is there no fear now? I believe the secular progressive community has no respect for the ability of the traditional valued citizens to stop them. They believe that the traditional valued people have no power, no voice, no financial support, and no chance of stopping their advance. To date, we have given them very little resistance; we have not demonstrated great strength, organization or stamina.
Secular progressives believe that if they pass same sex marriage in 2010, and it goes to referendum, we simply do not have the ability to organize and collect the thousands and thousands of valid signatures necessary to stop them. In short, they feel they are in the driver’s seat and we will simply go along for the ride and we will adjust; much like we did when prayer was removed from schools and abortion legalized. It is time for us, we the people to stand for the truth. Valid marriage is one man and one woman; that is God’s plan and we cannot stand by and watch them lead our country down a slippery slope leading to moral bankruptcy.
Since the 60's, the Black and Hispanic community has voted for Democrats and secular progressive politicians (usually Democrats) believe they have a lock on that huge block of votes. The Black and Hispanic communities must now begin to shed their Democrat colors and make a choice based on a deeper value…their faith. Black and Hispanic pastors and leaders must now turn from party politics and go back to the basics of their spiritual roots. Their faith is not based on programs or pork projects, it is based on sound Biblical principles and marriage is not a negotiable principle.
What statement will the church make? What will be done in response to the shot fired across the bow of traditional values? The Christian church must stand up and say “not here, not now.” I believe it is the job of the church leaders from every ethnic community and every Bible believing traditional valued corner of our creation to work together to stop this assault on our values. If not here then where, if not now then when, and if not us then who? What will you do today to fight the battle?
Christian Impact Alliance is committed to the battle of upholding traditional values.
