Contrast is the Key to Winning

When I go to the ice cream stand, I don’t ask for a bowl of melted ice cream. At the coffee shop, I am not looking for a cup of warm coffee. NO! I want my coffee steaming and my ice cream frozen. If I want my ice cream unfrozen, I order a milkshake, I add ice to my warm coffee and make it cold or I nuke it to make it hot again. Our local governments paint yellow lines in the middle of the road to keep us out of the danger zone. They warn us of the dangers found in the middle of the road. Imagine the problems if everybody decided to drive in the center of the road for a day.

Conservative ideals work, we don’t need to go out based on latest polling, and we just need to go out with integrity. Conservative politicians and candidates need to boldly proclaim their values and views and defend them publically. It is time to stop apologizing for being different. We are different for a reason…conservatism works! It promotes family well-being, personal responsibility, financial freedoms and the American dream.

To date, we have done a poor job framing the argument, we have allowed ourselves to become defensive and fearful of opposition. The Bible says “Blessed are the peace makers” not peace keepers. We must get off of the “go along to get along” bus and get back on the track of integrity, values and morals. Traditional values promote healthy living, small government, personal responsibility, liberty and growth. Additionally, traditional values prohibit intrusive governmental intrusion, dependence, and the overall weakening of the individual.

I want to leave you with the Webster’s 1828 dictionary definition of politics. The science of government; that part of ethics which consists in the regulation and government of a nation or state, for the preservation of its safety, peace and prosperity; comprehending the defense of its existence and rights against foreign control or conquest, the augmentation of its strength and resources, and the protection of its citizens in their rights, with the preservation and improvement of their morals. Politics, as a science or an art, is a subject of vast extent and importance.
